Chain Reaction is collecting old and unused bicycles in memory of our good friend Lum Wells. Our new Lum Wells Memorial Bicycle Ministry program is partnered with Augusta Urban Ministries. We are accepting any make, model, and style of bicycle, in any condition, for the Lum Wells Bicycle Ministry.
Lum's Lifelong Passion For Bikes
As a young man, Lum Wells and his father owned and operated Wells Band Instrument and Bicycle Repair on Central Avenue in Thomson, GA.
Though Lum eventually moved into mail service, his expertise and passion for repairing bicycles for others continued throughout his life.
Bicycle Ministry Provides Practical Help To Others
Before his passing last year, Lum volunteered his time and talent to help fix bicycles so they could be donated to children and adults in need throughout the CSRA.
This selfless work ensures that many children can receive a bicycle from Santa at Christmas. It also guarantees reliable transportation for adults who might otherwise struggle to get to and from work, appointments, and shops.
How You Can Donate
It's easy to donate your bicycle to the Lum Wells Bicycle Ministry. Just bring your old bicycles to Chain Reaction, and let us know you want to donate when you drop them off.
